In that case, putting in five bedrooms might take up space that could otherwise be used to create rooms that you’ll love and actually use. A home theatre, perhaps? Nothing beats the feeling of walking through the door after a long day with your nose to the grindstone, knowing that there’s nowhere you’d rather be than your own home.
Choosing your interiors is equally as important as getting the floor plan right when creating a home that suits your style. If you find bold colours energising and uplifting, don’t feel obliged to deck the halls in taupe and beige. Likewise, if tranquillity and subtlety are paramount, steer clear of crowded prints and bold statements. While they may have temporary appeal, if they’re not in keeping with your overall style ideals, they’re likely to wear thin quickly.
